"Pakistan does not want war, we are working for peace and will continue to strive for peace and de- escalation of tension with India," Foreign Office Spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan said at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Monday.

"Pakistan has always stood for peace, de-escalation of tension and withdrawal of forces to peace-time location, resolution of all disputes through peaceful means and any effort in this regard is always welcome," he added.

But he stated in categorical terms that Pakistan was fully capable to defend its territory.

Khan made the remarks while responding to a question about the visit of U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Christina Rocca to South Asia to help reduce tension between the two nuclear states.
