Compensation for May 7 Air Crash Victims Announced
Relatives of all 103 passengers who died in the May 7 air crash will get between 182,000 yuan (21,927 U.S. dollars) and 194,000 yuan (23,373 U.S. dollars) in compensation, Jiang Lianying, general manager of China Northern Airlines announced Monday.

According to Jiang, the sum will not include money already given to victims' relatives for living expenses, funeral expenses or accommodation in Dalian, nor will it affect allowances to the relatives by the government or the victims' employers.
The seven foreign passengers aboard the ill-fated plane would also qualify for the same amount in compensation.
A MD-82 passenger plane of China Northern Airlines carrying 112 people, including nine crew, plunged into Dalian Bay at 9:40 p.m. on May 7 shortly after the pilot reported a fire in the cabin.
