The inspection to the city's cosmetics market was conducted by the provincial health and quarantine departments on May 9.
During the inspection, 24 varieties of cosmetic products were found containing the suspicious contents. They are mainly imported from Italy, Germany, France and Japan.
Early March, the Ministry of Public Health and State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine issued a joint circular banning the import and sales of cosmetics which contained certain elements from cattle and sheep from countries infected with mad cow disease.
