An advanced detection instrument is expected to be shipped from the United States to Dalian tomorrow, the site of the air crash of a China Northern Airlines passenger plane on May 7, to help search the black box, or the data recorder, of the crashed plane.
This was announced by Song Jiahui, director of the salvage bureau under the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Communications, at a new briefing held here Saturday morning.
To date, the black box has been fixed at two possible locations. But it is still difficult to get it on account of the complex underwater conditions, Song said.
A China Northern Airlines MD-82 plane carrying 103 passengers and nine crew plunged into the sea Tuesday night. No survivor has been found.
