Premier Zhu Meets Kazakhstan Foreign Minister
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with visiting Kazakhstan State Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasymzhomart Tokayev in Beijing on Thursday.

on Thursday.
During the meeting, while recalling highlights of his trip to Kazakhstan last year, Zhu expressed satisfaction with the smooth growth of Sino-Kazakhstan relations and cooperation in various fields over the past decade.
Since China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors, he noted, they would naturally treat each other as "good neighbors, good friends and good partners."
The Chinese government will, as always, attach importance to the development of its ties with Kazakhstan, and is ready to join Kazakhstan in making concerted efforts to improve bilateral ties, he noted.
Tokayev said bilateral ties have been growing smoothly thanks to the close attention and efforts of leaders of both countries, and that Kazakhstan will further cooperation in international affairs as well as within the framework of the
Shanghai
Cooperation Organization (SCO).
On economic cooperation and trade, Tokayev said this field has expanded steadily, adding that there is still a great potential for cooperation in petroleum, transportation and border trade.
The Chinese premier said that considerable groundwork has been laid in bilateral economic cooperation and trade between China and Kazakhstan, and cooperation over petroleum and natural gas in particular is leading the way.
Zhu expressed the hope that the two sides will make full use of various advantages to raise bilateral cooperation to a higher level.
Moreover, he said he is fully confident of a brilliant future for Sino-Kazakhstan friendly relations and cooperation.
