The Queen of Britain on Thursday congratulated footballer Joe Cole on his inclusion in England's World Cup squad.

The talented 20-year-old was one of the players from London club West Ham who met the Queen, the BBC said.

She is touring the East End of London on the latest leg of her Jubilee tour.

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen met the West Ham midfielder just hours after the squad for the World Cup was announced.

She said her son Prince Andrew planned to travel to Japan and South Korea to watch some of the games.

The Duke of Edinburgh asked Cole about his early career.

"I came up through the academy, just like the boys outside," hesaid, indicating the young boys who had made a guard of honor outside the building.
