Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat Wednesday discussed with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Qatari Emir Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani and Turkey's Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit the deteriorating situation in the Middle East over phone.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a top aide to Arafat, called upon the international community "to take a more firm stand against the Israeli government that breaches all agreements and laws."
"The Israeli aggression and the threats to continue it against our people must stop. The United States must play its role again to pressure Israel not to bring the whole area back to the Israeli military escalation and operations into the Palestinian territories," said Abu Rudeineh.
He sent a message to the Israeli people and the Israeli government telling them "you have to know that without reaching a political solution, there will be no security or military solution."
He revealed that in the coming few days "there would be certain Palestinian measures and a new Palestinian policy to be able to confront hard circumstances due to the continued Israeli army aggression and operation."
