11 Killed, 18 Injured in Karachi Blast: Police

As many as 11 people have been killed and 18 injured in a car bomb explosion in downtown Karachi Wednesday morning, Inspector General of Police of Sindh Syed KamalShah said, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

As many as 11 people have been killed and 18 injured in a car bomb explosion in downtown Karachi Wednesday morning, Inspector General of Police of Sindh Syed KamalShah said, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

The incident occurred at around 07:55 hours in front of the main entrance of Hotel Sheraton on Club Road.

The dead include nine French who worked on the deck of the Pakistan Navy. They were in a bus of the Pakistan Navy when a car moving alongside it blew up.

"The car was not parked and the driver was probably on the seat," Syed Kamal Shah said.

There is information that the car driver was on the seat. If the car driver was on the seat then it could be a suicidal blast.

"This is the initial information and we are confirming it further", he added.

When asked about the motive of the blast, Syed Kamal Shah said that this would come to the fore after the investigation.

Syed Kamal Shah said, "We are ascertaining the intensity of thebomb. The collection of the technical details in this connection will take some time.
