India on Tuesday offered to provide three Airbus A-300 planes to Afghan Ariana Airlines to help build its air service infrastructure.
Indian civil Aviation Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain made the offer during his talks here with his Afghan counterpart Zalmai Rasool, who arrived here on Sunday for a four-day visit.
The first of the three aircraft currently with Air India would be handed over to Ariana Airlines by the end of this month, Hussain told the media after talking with Rasool.
India also offered to train Afghan pilots, he said, adding that New Delhi would send three pilots to handle the aircraft for three months.
Rasool said that his talks with Hussain covered rebuilding infrastructure, technical system, training of personnel and management systems.
Ariana was planning to operate flights to London, Frankfurt and Paris with these three aircraft, Rasool said.
Meanwhile, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI), 25 buses donated by the Indian government last week to the interim government of Afghanistan have left the country for Kabul via Wagha, a border post between India and Pakistan.
