Peruvian Foreign Minister Diego Garcia Sayan announced on Wednesday that he will visit China in late May to improve economic and trade relations between the two countries.

During his stay in China, Garcia Sayan will inaugurate the opening of a commercial office in Shanghai, the largest industrial city of China.

The opening of the new office will help boost economic and trade relations between the two countries, according to Garcia.

The Peruvian foreign minister said he will be accompanied by a group of entrepreneurs who will visit Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and other places in East Asia.

The business leaders are on a mission to expand Peruvian exports of tobacco, grapes, beer, flowers, seeds and the medicinal plant known as una de gato.

The Peru Exports Promotion Commission plans to increase exports of copper, lead, tin, furs, wood and oregano to China.

Peruvian Industry Minister Raul Diez has said that more than half of its overseas trade is with the economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
