Chinese center Yao Ming will have an official workout for NBA teams tomorrow in Chicago, which will be conducted by former Knicks head coach Jeff Van Gundy.
Yao who is expected to be among the top three players selected in the June draft, flew to Chicago last night, and his practice will be seen by at least 22 NBA teams, the New York Times said.
Van Gundy, who stepped down as Knicks coach after 19 games this season, was asked to run the workout by Stu Jackson, the league's senior vice president of operations and a longtime friend of Van Gundy.
Yao's skills and talent were evident in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. And the potential of having a bona fide big man in a league with few elite centers has general managers salivating at the chance to draft Yao.
