Shanghai Lists Top 100 Enterprises

The Shanghai Modern Statistic Information Center (SSIC) published a list of Shanghai's top 100 enterprises on April 29, which was worked out according to enterprise business scales in the fields of industry, retailing, chain business, construction industry, and real estate officially announced in 2001.

The Shanghai Modern Statistic Information Center (SSIC) published a list of Shanghai's top 100 enterprises on April 29, which was worked out according to enterprise business scales in the fields of industry, retailing, chain business, construction industry, and real estate officially announced in 2001. It is based on a standard of sales incomes (revenue of project settled accounts for construction enterprises) by 2000 statistics.

The top 100 enterprises include 69 industrial enterprises, 15 retailers, 6 chain businesses, 6 construction enterprises and 4 real estate companies. Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd ranked at the top with a sales revenue of 30.9 billion yuan and chain business Lianhua Supermarket Co., Ltd ranked the sixth. The second to fifth enterprises are Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd.( SVW ), Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (SPC), Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company and Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Company. The seventh to the tenth are Shanghai GM Automobile Co Ltd, Shanghai Tobacco (Group) Corp, Siemens Shanghai Mobile Communications Ltd and Shanghai Hualian Co., Ltd.

With the revelation of the list, a board of directors and a forum were also set up to carry out a series of activities focusing on the top 100 enterprises.
