CFA Accuses Popular Website of Infringement

The Chinese Football Association on Monday accused the popular Website Sohu.com of infringement, urging the NASDAQ-listed IT company to stop using the names of " Chinese Football Association's Designated Website of China's 2002 World Cup Finals Run" and "Partner of the Chinese Football Association".

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) on Monday accused the popular Website Sohu.com of infringement, urging the NASDAQ-listed IT company to stop using the names of " Chinese Football Association's Designated Website of China's 2002 World Cup Finals Run" and "Partner of the Chinese Football Association".

"We have never signed any agreement with Sohu.com, neither did we have any commercial relation with this company," the CFA said in a statement. "Sohu.com must stop the infringement immediately."

Charles Zhang, CEO of Sohu.com, responded by posting on its Website a copy of CFA's contract which identified Sohu.com as its "designated Website". He accused the Chinese soccer ruling body of damaging Sohu's image and hurting its interest by reneging on the contract.

Sohu.com also posted a photo of CFA vice president Zhang Jilong attending Sohu's press conference which launched the "CFA designated Website."
