Beijing to Put in 30 Billion yuan for City Informationization in Five Years
The 3rd High-Level Forum on City Informationization in the Asia-Pacific Region (CIAPR 2002), scheduled June 13 and 14 in Shanghai, will be attended by some 800 senior officials, experts and entrepreneurs from 31 countries and regions, the Forum organizing committee announced lately in Beijing.
The 3rd High-Level Forum on City Informationization in the Asia-Pacific Region (CIAPR 2002), scheduled June 13 and 14 in Shanghai, will be attended by some 800 senior officials, experts and entrepreneurs from 31 countries and regions, the Forum organizing committee announced lately in Beijing.
Issues of governments and enterprises' common concern will be discussed at the Forum, including development strategy of e-governments, e-government's service for citizens and enterprises, infrastructure of security system of e-government, narrowing of digital gaps, wide Internet access, as well as official and private partnership of e-governments.
The Beijing municipal government has decided to spend 30 billion yuan on building a cyber city in the coming five years so as to initially realize e-government, e-business, information communities and telnet education and to make breakthrough in some key fields of information technology, such as software, integrated circuit and optical communication.
Meanwhile, the Beijing Telecom will, in seven years, put in 7 to 8 billion yuan each year for infrastructure and Olympic communication network construction, with the total investment exceeding 55 billion yuan. By the year 2008 Beijing's network communication capacity and technology are expected to reach world advanced level, which will help to narrow digital gaps between the city and developed countries.
