China has made great achievements in its reform and opening-up efforts in the past two decades and China's economy is growing at a remarkable pace, Vacaroiu told Xinhua at Bucharest international airport after returning home from Beijing Monday morning.
Vacaroiu said during the visit, he met with Chinese President Jiang Zemin, top legislator Li Peng, and Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and has reached consensus with them on developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, including political, economic, cultural and technological ties.
Vacaroiu welcomed the investment of some prominent Chinese enterprises and their involvement in the privatization process in Romania.
Vacaroiu left home for Beijing on April 20 for an eight-day friendly visit to China at the invitation of CPPCC chairman Li Ruihuan.
China and Romania established diplomatic relations on October 5, 1949 and exchanged ambassadors in March 1950. For a long time, the two countries maintained close relations of friendship and cooperation.
