Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told a Sunday cabinet meeting that U.S. President George W. Bush, proposed transferring the killers of late Israeli tourism minister Rehavam Ze'evi to British police during a phone call.
According to an earlier report of the Israel Army Radio, Israel will allow Palestinian National Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat to leave his besieged Ramallah compound and travel to the Gaza Strip if Arafat condemns terror and turns in Ze'evi's killers.
Israel's Sunday cabinet meeting is due to discuss the level of cooperation Israel will give to the U.N. fact-finding team which will investigate into what happened in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.
Sharon reportedly proposed to the cabinet to delay by 24 hours a decision on whether to allow the U.N. mission to visit the devastated refugee camp in Jenin.
The U.N. team is expected to arrive in Israel on Sunday. The U. N. agreed to delay the mission's departure by 24 hours after Israel said that the government needed to hold further discussions on the matter, and that this could not be done during the Sabbath which falls on Saturday.
