Macedonian President Urges Further Ties With China

Visiting Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski called for further cooperation and ties with China in a speech delivered Sunday in Beijing.

Visiting Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski called for further cooperation and ties with China in a speech delivered Sunday in Beijing.

Addressing a symposium on Sino-Macedonian relations held by theChinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, Trajkovski thanked China for its constructive role in safeguarding Macedonia's sovereignty and stability as well as combating terrorism.

In the speech on the theme of "Future Challenges," he pointed out that against the background of globalization, the security anddevelopment of one country was closely linked with other distant countries.

Together with the international community including China, Macedonia was willing to renew its contribution to the peace and stability of the Balkan region and the world at large, he said.

With deepening interdependence among nations, Macedonia wished to strengthen political, economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation with China, so as to face the challenges of the new century, he said.

Hu Qili, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the ChinesePeople's Political Consultative Conference, attended the symposium.
