China Telecom to Lose One Half of Market Share

China Telecom's market share only makes 50.5 percent in the first quarter of this year in term of revenue, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the end of last year. Sources say that this means China Telecom, the ever telecom sector's giant, will lose one half of its market.

China Telecom's market share only makes 50.5 percent in the first quarter of this year in term of revenue, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the end of last year. Sources say that this means China Telecom, the ever telecom sector's giant, will lose one half of its market.

Reports from the Ministry of Information Industry show that except China Telecom, China Mobile's market share has also decreased by 1.5 percent to 36.6 percent since the end of last year, while China Unicom's market share increased by 1 percent to 11.3 percent. ChinaSat, China Netcome, Jitong and Tietong shared the rest 1.6 percent.

By its revenue and market share, China Mobile takes 79.8 percent and 70.4 percent respectively, China Unicom makes up 20.2 percent and 29.6 percent. In IP phone call, China Telecom takes up 60.8 percent, China Mobile, 22.6 percent, China Unicom, 10.5 percent, China Netcome, 3.5 percent, Jitong, 2.6 percent.
