Normal Cross-Straits Trade Not to Be Affected by Anti-dumping
Normal import from Taiwan Province will not be affected by anti-dumping. The mainland's recent anti-dumping investigations into cold rolled steel and polyvinyl chloride imports from Taiwan Province were aimed at those sold at an abnormal detrimental dumping price harming the interest of producers on the mainland, said Li Weiyi, spokesman with the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) has lately launched an anti-dumping investigation into cold rolled steel and polyvinyl chloride imports from overseas countries and regions towards the end of guaranteeing normal international trade order, fair market operation and the legal interests of companies concerned.
Li told that normal cross-Straits trade will be further promoted and fair competition is to be well protected. The mainland's economic trade relations with Taiwan are just those between China's main body and her customs area. Anti-dumping investigation into imports from Taiwan is in conformity with the one-China principle, China's relevant laws and the non-discrimination principle of the World Trade Organization.
On the issue of the "Taiwan-US Duty-free Area" suggested by some Taiwanese, Li said that it should be developed under the one-China principle.
When answering the question of whether China's mainland wish to establish a free trade zone with Taiwan Province, Li said that the Taiwan authorities have created many man-made and unreasonable obstacles preventing direct opening of the "three links''. Only when the Taiwan authorities clear away the obstacles can we talk about other issues.
