Chinese Vice-President Ends Visit to Malaysia

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao wound up his three-day official visit to Malaysia on Friday and headed for Singapore to continue his three-nation tour.

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao wound up his three-day official visit to Malaysia on Friday and headed for Singapore to continue his three-nation tour.

The vice-president and his entourage were seen off at the airport by Chief Minister of Pinang State Kih Tsu Koon, Speaker ofthe State Parliament Yahaya Hamid and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Hu Zhengyue.

The vice-president arrived here from Kuala Lumpur Thursday morning. On the same day, he paid a call on Yang d-Pertuan (Ruler)of Pinang State Abdul Rahman Abbas, who hosted a dinner in Hu's honor.

In Kuala Lumpur, Hu met with Malaysian Prime Mahathir Mohanmad and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister Abjullah Ahmad Badawi, which focused on strengthening Sino-Malaysian friendly ties of cooperation. He called on Malaysian Supreme Head of State Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin on Wednesday.

Hu also delivered a speech at a meeting sponsored by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute of Malaysia, in which he elaborated the development of China and its contribution to Asian prosperity and stability.

Malaysia is the first leg of the Chinese vice-president's trip.After visiting Singapore, Hu will fly to the United States.
