Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Thursday reaffirmed that China opposes and condemns Israel's invasion of Palestine.

At a regular press conference Thursday in Beijing, Kong said that the conflict in the Middle East region has escalated with the peace process being deadlocked for a long time, and the Chinese government is concerned and worried about the situation.

He noted that the United Nations passed resolution 1405 on April 19 to send a fact-finding team to the Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin.

China hopes that all parties will cooperate with the U.N. mission so that a just and objective evaluation of the situation in Jenin can be made, he said.
