A 40-million-U.S. dollar Sino- Russian contract to jointly produce subway carriages was signed Thursday in Shenyang.
The deal between the Shenyang Locomotive Carshop and the Moscow Science and Technology Joint-Stock Company was clinched at the 2002 Russian New High-Tech Exhibition.
According to the contract, a share-holding company will be established with the Russian side taking charge of production technology.
The new company will produce up to 100 carriages annually.
The carriages will be used at the old Shenyang industrial base in northeast China where a subway construction program will be launched next year.
