Visiting Speaker of Bhutan's Parliament Dasho Ugen Dorje met in Lhasa on Wednesday with Chairman Raidi of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
Raidi gave a briefing to the guest on Tibet's development.
Dorje said it was his first visit to China's inland regions, including Tibet. He was surprised and excited by what he had seen which was completely different from what he had been led to expect, he said.
Dorje was impressed by China's rapid development, and said Tibet had also seen great changes with the support of the central government.
He said infrastructure construction in Tibet had progressed well and the local government did a good job in improving its environment. He also learnt that the Tibetan people were satisfied with their current lifestyle after talking with local people.
Though calling himself a tough man to be convinced, Dorje said he saw with his own eyes that the Tibetan people were benefiting greatly from the central government's special care, and he expressed his belief that Tibet would bloom like the inland regions in the future.
Dorje and his party arrived in Tibet on April 22, and will depart on April 25.
During his stay, Dorje visited some Tibetan landmarks like the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple.
