Belarussian President on Domestic, Foreign Policies
Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko vowed Tuesday to develop Belarus into a strong and prosperous country and to create friendly relations with other countries.

During his annual state of the nation address to parliament, Lukashenko said Belarus had remained stable and peaceful in the past year, even though some foreign forces tried to intervene to last year's presidential election.
The president reiterated that strengthening the union with Russia remained the top priority of Belarus's foreign policy.
Belarus is always the faithful friend of the Russian people, and its policy to unite the political, economic and strategic potentials of the two states tallies with the interests of both sides, he said.
Lukashenko said his country would further develop relations with Russia according to the principles of safeguarding sovereignty and equality, adding that much attention should be paid to establish a united economic environment.
As to relations with the European countries, Lukashenko said Belarus was willing to enhance cooperation with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and other European institutions.
