Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Belarus Visitor

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing met in Beijing on Tuesday with visiting Belarus Defense Minister Leonid Semeonovich Maltsev.

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing met in Beijing on Tuesday with visiting Belarus Defense Minister Leonid Semeonovich Maltsev.

Li said that the people of China and Belarus had enjoyed a long- term friendship although the two countries were far apart, exchanges and cooperation in political, economic and trade, and military fields have kept expanding and been fruitful.

The Chinese government and people valued its friendship with Belarus which was in the long-term interests of both sides, and benefited world peace and stability, he said.

He hoped that the Sino-Belarus friendship would be further improved in the future.

Maltsev said that Belarus and China had maintained friendly, cooperative relations, especially after the two heads of states exchanged visits, cooperation in all fields had reached a new height.

The Belarus government hoped to further its friendly relations and cooperation with China and its armed forces through the visit, Maltsev noted.
