Vice President Arrives in Malaysia for Official Visit
It is Hu's first visit to this country. In an arrival statement issued at the airport, Hu expressed the hope that his visit would help further the neighborly and friendly relations of cooperation between China and Malaysia.
Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao arrived in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday afternoon at the start of his three- day visit to Malaysia.
It is Hu's first visit to this country. In an arrival statement issued at the airport, Hu expressed the hope that his visit would help further the neighborly and friendly relations of cooperation between China and Malaysia.
He noted that China and Malaysia enjoy a long history of friendship, and bilateral ties between the two countries have developed smoothly in recent years, with fruitful reciprocal cooperation in all fields.
China and Malaysia are both developing countries, and hold common views on many regional and international issues, he said.
He also stated that enhancing Sino-Malaysian friendly cooperation is not only in the fundamental interests of both peoples, but also conducive to the stability and development of the region.
During his stay in Malaysia, Hu will meet and hold talks with Malaysian leaders and exchange views with people from all walks of life.
Malaysia is the first leg of Hu's three-nation tour, which will also take him to Singapore and the United States.
