Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga arrived in New Delhi on Monday morning for talks with Indian leaders on the developments in the island country, including the peace accord between the government and the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Kumaratunga is scheduled to meet Indian President Kocheril Raman Narayanan and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Wednesday.

Progress in the international campaign against terrorism, the latest developments in Middle East and situation in South Asia as well as bilateral relations are expected to come up in talks between leaders of the two neighbors.

During her week-long visit to the country, she will deliver a lecture on democracy and conflict resolution on Tuesday.

Reports reaching here from Colombo said that Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would also visit new Delhi in early June, ahead of his government's peace talks with the LTTE to allaypossible Indian concerns over the outcome of the negotiations.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported on Sunday that peace-starved Sri Lanka expected India to act cautiously at the juncturewhen the Sri Lankan government had taken a bold step to restore peace in the country.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Vajpayee rejected a plea by LTTE to lift the ban on outfit and ruled out India's involvement in the Norwegian-brokered peace talks between the Sri Lanka government and the LTTE.
