Representatives from China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) discussed their cooperation in the information technology industry, in Beijing on Thursday.
Chinese Assistant Minister of Information Industry (MII) Lou Qinjian attended the China-ROK IT Industry and Policy Forum, which was sponsored by the Chinese MII and the ROK Information and Communication Ministry.
Both China and ROK had made remarkable progress in the IT industry in recent years, said Lou, noting that the two countries had realized the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field.
The two countries had worked together on seabed cables and CDMA technology, he said.
Lou expressed China's wish to expand cooperation with ROK in mobile telecommunication standardization, broad-band internet technology, software development and digital television.
Forum participants also conferred on the relations between the World Trade Organization and liberalization of telecommunication markets, risk investment and the broad-band internet.
