AAPP Has Seven New Members
The Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) Wednesday granted membership to seven nations during the third annual meeting of the AAPP in Chongqing. Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Tadzhikistan, and Bhutan became new members of the AAPP.

Introduction of Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP)
Created in September of 1999, the AAPP is the largest inter-parliamentarian organization in Asia with 36 member states and 15 non-member states.
In line with the theme of "peace and development", lawmakers every year will discuss a wide spectrum of issues including multi-polarization in the world politics, world peace, economic globalization and its ensuing impact upon developing nations and how to strengthen international cooperation for a new international political and economic order.
Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Tadzhikistan, and Bhutan became new members of the AAPP. As a result, the number of member countries has risen from 36 to 43.
The AAPP is a regional organization representing parliaments from countries in Asia and the south Pacific region as well as sovereign countries with territories in Asia.
The organization was formally launched in September 1999 in Dacca, capital of Bangladesh.
