Tung Unveils New Accountability System

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa Wednesday announced the introduction of the accountability system on July 1 this year to enhance the government's efficiency.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa Wednesday announced the introduction of the accountability system on July 1 this year to enhance the government's efficiency.

At the Legislative Council meeting, Tung made a briefing on the accountability system to the Legislative Council members.

Tung said that under the accountability system, there will be 11 policy bureaus under the SAR government and that there are totally 14 positions for principal officials, plus three major secretaries.

Under the accountability system, principal officials will increase understanding of the will of the public and better serve the public, Tung said.
