Air China Pilot Feels No Problem With Crashed Plane

The surviving captain of the crashed Air China plane said he had felt no mechanical problems with the jet before the disaster, according to a statement of the South Korean investigation group.

The surviving captain of the crashed Air China plane said he had felt no mechanical problems with the jet before the disaster, according to a statement of the South Korean investigation group.

"He testified he felt nothing unusual with the aircraft," said the statement, issued by the investigation group composed of police, prosecutors and aviation experts.

The captain, Wu Xinlu, made the comment in his first interview with the South Korean authority in hospital, where he was receiving intensive care.

The Chinese plane crashed into a hillside near the southern city of Pusan when it tried to land in dense fog.
