Premier Zhu Rongji Arrives in Ankara on Official Visit
Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji arrived in Ankara Monday on a five-day official visit to Turkey. In a written statement delivered at the airport, Zhu said that Chinese-Turkish friendship dates back to ancient times and that theSilk Road had born witness to such friendship.

Zhu expressed satisfaction with the major progress in bilateral cooperation in politics, economy and other areas since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971.
The prime minister said that he is looking forward to meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and Grand National Assembly Speaker Omer Izgi and discussing with them bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
He expressed the hope that his visit would enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields and benefit the two countries and the twopeoples.
Turkey is the first leg of Zhu's three-nation trip, which will also take him to Egypt and Kenya.
