Chinese President, Premier Express Condolences Over Death of Plane Crash Victims
Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu Rongji respectively expressed profound condolences Monday over the death of victims in the Chinese passenger airlinercrash earlier in the day near the South Korean city of Pusan.

Upon learning of the crash, President Jiang, on a state visit in Nigeria, instructed competent Chinese authorities to go all outon the rescue work, and properly handle problems likely to arise in the aftermath on a well coordinated basis.
He also expressed sympathy and solicitude for the families and relatives of the victims as well as those who were injured in the crash.
Upon learning of the crash while enroute to an official visit to Turkey, Premier Zhu Rongji expressed sympathy and solicitude for the families of the victims and those injured.
He also instructed competent Chinese authorities to closely cooperate with each other and handle well rescue work, investigation and problems that might arise in the aftermath.
Acting on the instructions of both leaders, the Chinese Embassyin Seoul and the General Consulate in Pusan have sent personnel tothe site of crash. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has also sent a team of investigators to the site.
Also Monday, both President Jiang and Premier Zhu sent messagesto South Korean President Kim Dae-jung to express condolences overthe death of South Korean victims in the crash and to express gratitute to South Korea for its timely rescue work.
The death toll in the crash has reached 109, and 47 survivors have been found as of 0900 GMT, according to South Korean officials.
There were still 10 passengers unaccounted for.
Then Air China Boeing 767-200 passenger plane, flight number CA129, crashed into a mountainside near Pusan airport at 11:23 a.m.local time (0223 GMT) amid heavy rain and dense fog.

10:40 (Beijing time), where the weather was foggy with a very low degree of visibility.
