Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told the official IRNA news agency that Tehran and Beijing could diversify relations in all fields relying on their historical antiquity and the two countries could further develop ties given their significant standing in the world.

President Jiang Zemin's visit to the Islamic Republic would alsobe an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments, including the issue of Palestine and the reconstruction of war-shattered Afghanistan, Asefi said.

President Jiang Zemin, heading a high-ranking Chinese political-economic delegation, will visit Iran on April 18-22 at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Khatami for talks onways to promote mutual relations.
