Iran Highlights Chinese President's Visit
Iran on Monday highlighted the significance of the upcoming visit by Chinese President Jiang Zeminto the Islamic Republic, saying that the visit scheduled to begin on Thursday would lay ground to boost constructive cooperation between the two countries.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told the official IRNA news agency that Tehran and Beijing could diversify relations in all fields relying on their historical antiquity and the two countries could further develop ties given their significant standing in the world.
President Jiang Zemin's visit to the Islamic Republic would alsobe an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments, including the issue of Palestine and the reconstruction of war-shattered Afghanistan, Asefi said.
President Jiang Zemin, heading a high-ranking Chinese political-economic delegation, will visit Iran on April 18-22 at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Khatami for talks onways to promote mutual relations.
Jiang is on a five-nation tour which also includes Germany, Libya, Nigeria and Tunisia.
