Most Passengers on Crashed Chinese Plane Are ROK Nationals

Most of the 155 passengers aboard the crashed Chinese plane were nationals of the Republic of Korea (ROK), official sources in Beijing said.

Most of the 155 passengers aboard the crashed Chinese plane were nationals of the Republic of Korea (ROK), official sources in Beijing said.

There were 135 Korean nationals, 19 Chinese and one Uzbek, as well as 11 crew members, on board, Ma Songwei, chief publicity official of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC), was quoted as saying by Beijing-based official Xinhua News Agency.

Exact figures of casualties and the cause of the incident are now under investigation, he said.

Family members of all victims will be notified, said the official.

While attempting a landing, the Boeing 767-200 passenger plane crashed into a hill near an apartment building adjacent to the Busan airport at 10:40 (Beijing time), where the weather was foggy with a very low degree of visibility.
