The Haier Group, the home appliance manufacturer based in this scenic city of east China's Shandong Province, reported exports of 420 million U.S. dollars in 2001, making it the country's most successful home electric appliances firm.
The export volume also ranked the group fifth among China's 690 enterprises which registered an export volume of over 10 million U.S. dollars last year, according to the State Economic and Trade Commission.
To sharpen its competitive edge on the international market, Haier has established a fast information-response system to shorten delivery times to overseas customers. In the first quarter
this year, the delivery period for Haier's exports was shortened from 15 to seven days.
On the other hand, Haier people have always had a pioneering spirit in adjusting development strategy, improving products and its market network to meet the demand of consumers who like a
personal touch. Statistics show that new products accounted for 40 percent of Haier's total exports for the first three months this year.
Earlier this year, Hailer reached cooperation agreements with Japan's Sanyo and Taiwan's Sanpo Electric Manufacturing Co., which included opening each other's markets to achieve mutual benefit and development.
At present, Haier has 40,800 marketing outlets, 13 plants and two industrial zones overseas.
