Participants Arrive for AAPP Annual Meeting

Parliamentary delegations from 10 countries arrived here Sunday to attend the third annual meeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP).

Parliamentary delegations from 10 countries arrived here Sunday to attend the third annual meeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP).

The delegations came from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kiribati, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Vietnam, Yemen, Micronesia, Turkey and Oman.

Eight delegations are headed by parliament speakers.

A total of 39 countries' parliaments have so far registered to participate in the meeting. Diplomatic envoys in China from some Asian countries will also attend the meeting.

The meeting, with the theme of "Peace and Development," will be held in Beijing and southwest China's Chongqing from April 16 to 19.

Participants will hold discussions on three topics: multi-polarization and peace; globalization and developing countries; international cooperation to promote a new world political order.

The AAPP, founded in 1999, has 36 member states.
