At the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Commission held on April 8, the U.S. representative reportedly called the DPRK a "state with serious human rights problem," the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.
"This can never be tolerated as it directly reflects the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, which is intended to tarnish DPRK's international image and intensify pressure upon the DPRK over its human rights issue," the KCNA said in a commentary.
The U.S. has groundlessly criticized the DPRK for its human rights record in its annual report on human rights. "This indicates that the U.S. has not yet dropped its sinister intentionto divorce the Workers' Party of Korea from the Korean people and overthrow their man-centred socialist system," said the commentary.
The commentary also denounced the U.S. for interfering in the internal affairs of countries "situated in the regions rich in natural resources and in the areas of military strategic importance" and using force of arms to settle regional issues and disputes.
"The U.S. can never deny the fact that it carried out over 70 wars and military intervention in the past, violating the sovereignty of other countries and the human rights of their people," it said.
"It is a well-known fact that the U.S. cited 'human rights issue' of a country as a pretext to use 'force' against it," the article noted. "All facts go to prove that the U.S. is vociferous about 'human rights issue' to meet its political interest."
