Alec Broers, vice-chancellor of Britain's Cambridge University, received an honorary doctoral degree from Beijing University here Friday.
Beijing University, one of China's most prestigious institutes of higher education, initiated a series of activities to mark Friday's "Cambridge University Day", which is aimed at promoting educational cooperation between the two universities.
Broers delivered a speech with the theme, "Universities of the New Millennium: Front and Cooperation".
In the afternoon, Broers and his delegation of seven Cambridge professors carried out academic exchanges with students and teachers of Beijing University.
