Boao Forum for Asia Attracts 2,000 Participants
About 2000 people from 48 countries and regions will attend the first annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), BFA executive director Yao Wang said Thursday.
About 2000 people from 48 countries and regions will attend the first annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), BFA executive director Yao Wang said Thursday.
Yao said that political figures from eight Asian countries and Australia, including Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and Republic of Korea (ROK) Prime Minister Lee Han-dong would attend and address the conference. They would also discuss the current economic situation in Asia.
Yao said that over 200 corporate officials from leading enterprises, and 60 senior officials from important international and regional organizations would also be present. Economic cooperation and free trade within Asia, as well as China's economic growth after its entry into the World Trade Organization, were expected to be the major topics of the meeting.
During the two-day meeting, 23 panel sessions will be held and participants will discuss a variety of issues of common concern, such as finance, telecommunications, mass media, energy, environment, and manufacturing industry in Asia.
