Vicious Cycle in Mideast Jeopardizes World Peace: Iranian President
Iranian President Mohammad Khatami on Wednesday warned against the danger of war in the world if a vicious cycle of violence persists in the Mideast region, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

In a meeting with visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen, the moderate president called on the international community to have dialog to solve disputes and differences.
He said that dialog will be possible if a peaceful view prevailsover the world to end discrimination and global hegemony.
Referring to the deteriorating Mideast situation, he said that human conscience necessitates all the nations to help stop Israeli massacre of oppressed Palestinians.
Khatami said that the international community should come to thehelp of the Palestinians and meditate a solution as well as a sustainable peace, which would be possible only by taking into account the rights of the Palestinian refugees.
For his part, Petersen briefed Khatami on Norway's stance towardevents in the Middle East and said that Oslo supports the Mideast peace process.
He called for holding dialog among different countries to help resolve bilateral and international differences.
