Yang Yang (A) Wins Second Gold in Short Track Speed Skating Worlds

Chinese Yang Yang (A), double Olympic champion in Salt Lake City, earend a second gold medal at the world short track speed skating championship in Montreal on Saturday.

Chinese Yang Yang (A), double Olympic champion in Salt Lake City, earend a second gold medal at the world short track speed skating championship in Montreal on Saturday.

Yang Yang (A), who gave China its first ever Olympic winter games gold medal with her 500m win in Salt Lake City, sprinted to take the title of the distance in Montreal, winning in 44.460 seconds, adding the gold to the 1,500m crown she won on Friday.

South Korean skater Kim Dong-sung also became the double gold winner in Montreal, winning the men's 500m on Saturday, with a clcok of 41.930 seconds.

In the women's distance, Evgenia Radanova of Bulgaria was second in 44.586 and Wang Chunlu of China in 44.676.

In the men's 500 final, Fabio Carta of Italy was second in 42. 044 and Ron Biondo of the U.S., third in 42.195.

Olympic champion Marc Gagnon of Canada is not competing in the championships saying he was been unable to train properly because of numerous commitments following the Winter Games.

The competition ends Sunday with finals in both men's and women's 1,000 meters and relay events.
