China's Chen Hua, who won the women's 800m freestyle of the world short-course swimming championships, said Friday in Moscow, Russia, that she wanted to win back the world record from Japan's rival.

Chen's previous world record of eight minutes, 15.15 seconds in the women's 800 freestyle was broken by Japan's SAchiko Yamada, who swam to 8:14.35 at the Japan short-course championships on Tuesday in Tokyo.

Yamada did not compete in the Moscow world championships, Chen told Xinhua through her coach Zhu Zhigen, that she felt no pressure in the 800m finals and finished only 8:16.34 to win the gold.

"It's a pity that Yamada couldn't compete in the world championships. If she could have come here, she might have not beat Chen Hua on the world record," Zhu said.

Chen set the world record in Shanghai in December. She took the silver medal at Friday's 400m freestyle with 4:03.81.
