Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has lost contact with the outside world, according to a CNN report monitored Saturday.
The report quoted top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat as saying that the Palestinian National Authority could not contact Arafat, who has been surrounded by Israeli troops at his Ramallah headquarters in the West Bank since a week ago.
The reported cutting off of contact came after Arafat and U.S. Mideast peace envoy General Anthony Zinni met Friday in Ramallah, where they failed to reach any deal but agreed to meet again.
It is not yet clear if Israel would allow Zinni to have a second meeting with Arafat. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was reported to be reluctant to agree with Zinni's Friday meeting with Arafat.
