Some 20 guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were killed during air raids staged by government forces in the eastern Vichada province against the largest guerrilla group in this South American country.
Military sources said on Friday that the bombing came when FARC rebels launched an assault on a police headquarters in the province. The assault resulted in no casualties to police officers.
"We provided air support and spotted the vehicles in which the rebels moved along a road. The strike led to the death of 15 to 20 guerrillas," said Apiay Air Force base commander Ricardo Rubiano Groot.
