Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said on Friday that some points of U.S. President George W. Bush's speech on the Mideast situation will be discussed when U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell visits the region next week.

"The speech included points related to an Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian lands and other points to be discussed when Powell visits the region," Maher told reporters after a meeting with

Bahraini Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Abdul Ghaffar.

Ghaffar arrived here on Thursday for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers.

Maher said that Arab foreign ministers would focus on the dangerous situation in the occupied Palestinian lands and actions to be taken to end the Israeli aggression on the Palestinians.

On Thursday, Bush said in Washington that he will send Powell to the Middle East for a new push for ending the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Bush added that Powell is to work toward the implementation of U.N. Resolution 1402, which calls for an immediate ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian lands.

The situation in the Palestinian lands has swiftly worsened since Israeli tanks rolled into the West Bank city of Ramallah and shelled Arafat's compound last Friday morning.

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has been besieged by the Israeli army in his office building in Ramallah since then.
