Strong Quake Hits Western Japan
A strong earthquake measuring 4.8 on the open-ended Richter scale jolted Matsuno, Ehime Prefecture in western Japan early Saturday, shaking other parts of Shikoku, Chugoku and Kyushu regions, Kyodo News reported, quoting the Osaka regional weather bureau.

No damage or casualties were reported from the earthquake, which stroke at 1:57 a.m. local time, the report said.
An aftershock occurred in the southern part of the prefecture at 2:09 a.m.
The quake was felt in a wide areas in Ehime, Yamaguchi and Hiroshima prefectures.
Osaka meteorological officials said the focus of both earthquakes was about 40 kilometers underground in the southern part of Ehime Prefecture.
