Flood Control Project with World Bank Loan Completed
A flood control project, China's first funded by World Bank and aimed to benefit east China's Taihu Lake areas, has been completed successfully, sources with the project evaluation team said here Friday.
A flood control project, China's first funded by World Bank and aimed to benefit east China's Taihu Lake areas, has been completed successfully, sources with the project evaluation team said here Friday.
Li Qun, head of the World Bank evaluation team, said on an evalutaion meeting held here that the project has been built in strict accordance with the World Bank standards in terms of project tender, purchase, immigrant settlement and environmental protection.
The total investment of the flood control project, which started in 1993, reached 4.82 billion yuan, 1.1 billion yuan of which came from the World Bank.
The Taihu Lake basin, one of the economically-advanced areas in China, has suffered severely from flood and environmental pollution.
