The award-granting ceremony of the Seventh China International News Award was held Thursday in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, central China.

The award playing an increasingly bigger role
As China's top prize for local international news writers, the award has been playing an increasingly bigger role in enhancing the level of international news writing in the country, said Wang Guoqing, chairman of the panel of judges and a deputy director of the State Council Information Office.

This year, a total of 252 works by journalists from 94 local media organizations were submitted to the contest for the 10 top prizes, 20 second prizes, 29 third prizes and 16 honorary awards.
