Premier Zhu Rongji Meets Ugandan Deputy PM

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met Thursday with James Wapakhabulo, the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda.

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met Thursday with James Wapakhabulo, the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda.

Zhu said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uganda, and China is satisfied with the smooth development of bilateral relations over the past four decades.

Zhu expressed appreciation and gratitude for Uganda's adherence to the "one China" policy and its support for China on human rights and other issues.

The Chinese Premier said that China is willing to explore new ways of economic cooperation with Uganda which will contribute to the healthy development of bilateral ties.

Wapakhabulo said that the Ugandan people, as well as other African peoples, all remember China's big contributions to the independence of African countries and its selfless help to them in economic construction.

He said that Uganda will unswervingly adhere to the "one China" policy.
